Résumé

This article discusses aspects of identity, memory and love in the film Café com Canela, directed by Glenda Nicácio and Ary Rosa (Brasil, 2017). The feature film tells the story of Margarida (Valdineia Soriano) a retired teacher who lives isolated from the world after losing her only child. One day, Violeta (Aline Brunne), knocks on her door and from that moment on, takes on the mission of returning a little contentment to the life of her former teacher, Margarida. The text analyzes the film, sound and visual narratives of care and affection and how these feelings structure the concept of Black Cinema in the Feminine. It was concluded that the stories about affection, friendship and care of and with black people allow reflections on black lives from the verbs: Believe, Live and Share. The text also highlights black ancestry and identity as affective processes, capable of constituting new images of the black Brazilian population.
