Abstract

In order to map the film structures of production that contributed to create, boost and maintain the production activity in northern Portugal and that through its activity were part of the history of cinema in Portugal in the Northern Region, we will make an approach to the beginning of cinema in Portugal, focusing on the Northern region of Portugal, trying to understand the reasons that led to a series of innovative and advanced projects for its time, eventually failed to consolidate, despite all the entrepreneurship that was at its base.
With this research we make an approach to one of the big questions that always arise when addressing the theme of a national cinematography and its history, about what really characterizes the cinema of a country or territory and what its production structures are.
