A meeting point gets always more recognition and presence when time marks a number that seems to limit a stage.
In 2019, we celebrate the 10th edition of a conference that finds its nuclear reason in research on cinema.
As the first scientific conference that takes place together with a film festival, the AVANCA | CINEMA and the 23rd AVANCA 2019 Festival offer a unique environment and a diverse program that goes through cinema sessions, workshops, book presentations, exhibitions and always the side events to be discovered.
The double blind review seeks to ensure, edition after edition, the quality and originality of the chosen works.
The AVANCA | CINEMA is a meeting point for researchers who wish to disseminate and share their academic research.
These will be 5 days of cinema and many crossings ... in the glances that meet in Avanca, Portugal, in midsummer.
AVANCA | CINEMA 2019, a place to question / discuss cinema.

Prize Engr. Fernando Gonçalves Lavrado

In posthumous tribute to one of the most significant Portuguese researchers in the Semiotic, Aesthetic and Cinema Theory, whose work is essential and universal, the Conference AVANCA | CINEMA creates in 2010 the Prize Engr. Fernando Gonçalves Lavrador, aiming to distinguish the best communication present in the conference.

In 2019, the International Jury constituted by:

  • Cláudia Vaz – Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal);
  • Denise Machado Cardoso – Universidade Federal do Pará (Brazil);
  • Gloria Gómez-Escalonilla Moreno – Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain);
  • José da Silva Ribeiro – Universidade Federal da Goiás (Brazil);
  • Mari Mäkiranta – University of Lapland (Finland).

The International Jury decided to award the following paper:
