Résumé

The connections between the arts are so intricately woven that the boundaries between them seem blurred, with one becoming an extension of the other. Between literature and cinema, these connections manifest as a kind of alliance—perhaps even a marriage—from which emerge new interpretations and meanings. While narrative in literary texts follows narratological rules and narrative structures, where the verb is the main thread weaving meaning into the storyline, film adaptations use a different, more technical language. Understanding this cinematic language requires the tools of visual semiotics to bring the viewer closer to the meaning of the original literary work.
Moreover, the influence between literature and cinema proves to be both reversible and inevitable. Cinema draws its primary material from literature and, through image, sound, and light, facilitates the reception of literary texts that might otherwise remain inaccessible to those not passionate about reading. The transition from one artistic form to another—in this case, from literary text to film—raises questions about the semantic coherence between the two forms. To explore this, we will compare the novel Morceaux de choix by Mohamed Nedali and its film adaptation Les ailes de l’amour by Abdelhaï Laraki.
