Résumé

This paper aims to introduce the project CinePsi and explore the pedagogical possibilities of film clubs in the teaching of Psychology and other themes related to Arts and Humanities. CinePsi is an extension project from the Psychology Institute in Universidade de Brasília (UnB), Brazil. The group intertwines studies about cinema and psychology and promotes film club activities in the university. Besides free exhibitions of movies outside of the commercial circuit, the project enables interdisciplinarity through debates with guests from different fields, like Philosophy, History and Pedagogy. CinePsi enables students, professors and film enthusiasts to meet and it creates a horizontal teaching method, making space for themes that are frequently forgotten in traditional Psychology courses, like racism, LGBTQ+ rights and the anti-asylum movement. The group also aims to spread audio-visual culture and share less popular films with the public.
