Résumé

The Method of Active Analysis, developed by Constantin Stanislavski, has evolved over time through practical experimentation. This approach is relevant across multiple domains, including film and theatre directing, actor direction for cinema and video, and the broader field of audiovisual arts. Bridging theory and practice in the creative process, this method advocates for the analysis and development of the character to occur through action. It integrates the actor’s psychophysical activity from the outset, thereby eliminating the traditional preparatory stages of textual analysis and theoretical study prior to performance. This methodology brought significant transformations to Stanislavski’s system, both for actors and directors. By incorporating Physical Actions into the analytical process of dramatic material, the actor›s psychophysical totality is activated in the construction of the character from the very beginning. This ensures continuity between the theoretical and practical dimensions of engaging with the fictional universe, avoiding a dichotomy between them. The application of Active Analysis across different artistic languages— cinema, television, and theatre—and within diverse aesthetic, literary, and dramatic contexts enables directors and creators to develop a comprehensive artistic vision grounded in the actors› active work. This results in a more organic and coherent integration of performance within the textual framework.
