O Cinema Português após a Pandemia COVID-19
Resumen
Based on the data provided by ICA (Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual), covering the period from 2019 to 2024, considerations will be presented regarding Portuguese Cinema in the post-COVID-19 Pandemic era, specifically concerning production, distribution, and exhibition. Although the World Health Organization declared May 5, 2023, as the end of the global health emergency related to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we consider 2022 as the post-pandemic year. Thus, the period from 2022 to 2024 will be the primary focus. However, in order to better understand this period, we will also analyze the year prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 Pandemic, namely 2019, as well as the two years of significant restrictions due to the outbreak of the aforementioned Pandemic, i.e., 2020 and 2021. From a methodological point of view, several publications made available by the ICA between 2019 and 2025 were consulted and analyzed. The observed results indicate promising prospects for Portuguese cinema, showing a very positive recovery both in terms of production and in the distribution and exhibition of national films, taking into account the years prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
