Resumo

With the advent of digital technology since 2010 and the collapse of film laboratories in 2011, the use of film in productions has declined abruptly. Teaching with film has also declined considerably in all film schools. There were several reasons, but the most serious was the end of support infrastructures such as developing laboratories, which led to a considerable increase in costs. Without laboratories, schools are forced to send film to be developed abroad, which, when added to the purchase of film, developing and transport costs, makes any project unviable. Not only the costs but the teaching methodology has to be done without the close support of the laboratory which is essential to educate camera students. Under these circumstances, schools have stopped teaching with celluloid. However, with the increased use of film in many national and international productions, it seems pertinent for schools to return to teaching with film. This is important from a pedagogical point of view since teaching with film cameras is an effective way of teaching the essence of image capture. The process is also very well accepted by students. This process also brings current generations up to speed on the use of film in industry.
