Capítulo I _ Cine - Arte
Seis grados de separación: La gran fábula del mundo del arte
Resumen
The film Six degrees of separation, (Fred Schepisi, 1993) has been interpreted and perceived as a comedy, a literal discourse on its title, but John Guare’s screenplay gives a glimpse of a deeper discourse about the world of art in tune with the theories of art promoted by the analytic philosophy proposed by authors such as Arthur Danto, Nelson Goodman or George Dickie, who have been talking since the 60’s about the art world (The Artworld, 1964) as the new artistic paradigm for what is to come. Throughout the film, there is a dissection of the different agents that intertwine so that the artist takes his place in the art system. In our contribution we will make a selection and analysis of certain scenes that exemplify the different ways of approaching and conceiving art where each of the characters embody a different understanding of the artist (the protagonist who triggers the whole plot) until the final conclusion that art should not be reduced to an anecdote in our lives but translated into an experience.
