Résumé

Animation can play a significant role in children’s educational context. Its combination of signs, sounds and messages sparks a ludic perspective, allowing to create a solid alliance with the learning process. Therefore, the Espaço do Conhecimento from Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), an university museum, develops the animated series “Pés na Grama, Olhos no Céu” (Feet on the Grass, Eyes in the Sky), with the purpose of teaching children astronomy in a sensible and entertaining manner. The article aimed to present an analysis of this creative project, stratifying the main strategies used by the team for developing its script, circling around the core question: “How to create a good children’s animated story, that is powerful enough to fulfill an educational purpose as a science communication media, but at the same time, is still seen as a charming audiovisual work by its target audience?” For this purpose, an interdisciplinary study was conducted, including some works addressing the theme of science communication for children, which argue that this specific genre of media rarely stimulates questioning, but rather infers only immutable postulates for the child; and consequently, their boiling intelligence is severely underestimated. These precepts were analyzed in conjunction with the script of the series, the main result of the present research. Thus, theory allies with practice. Through reflections on pedagogy and communication, it was possible to extract conclusions for the perspective of animation.
