Resumen

This paper investigates orality in audiovisual practice as a complex system of language articulation and memory fabulation, constituted at the crossroads between Afro-Indigenous matrices and the colonial imposition of writing. Far from being a prior stage or a residual expression of culture, orality is understood as an active regime of meaning production, forged in the friction between worlds, where the colonizer’s language is appropriated as a strategy of survival and, at the same time, internally disrupted. In this process, Portuguese is traversed by the body, rhythm, spirituality, and collective memory, becoming a vehicle for other Brazilian epistemologies. This investigation is articulated through audiovisual practice, particularly the documentary “Minha Boiada é de 31” (David Sol 2026), which narrates the initial encounter of Mãe Bete de Oyá (Iyálorisá of African Matrix) with the land that would later become her religious temple. The film operates as a visual fabulation of memory, where territory, spirituality, and orality intertwine. The act of arriving at the land, recognizing it, and naming it is not merely a biographical event, but a communicational and cosmopolitical act, in which the Caboclos, understood as organizers of sensibilities—mediate the relationship between past, present, and future. By bringing together theoretical research and cinematic production, this work proposes orality as a key to understanding modes of language that escape hegemonic logic, affirming it as a living practice of world inscription, where memory, affect, and territory become language, and where speaking is also an act of resistance, care, and continuity.
