Resumo

In this essay, we set out to analyze the mediumfeature Being Imperfect (Teko Haxy – Ser Imperfeita, Patrícia Ferreira Pará Yxapy and Sophia Pinheiro, 2018). We first identified it within the research Project “Speculum: Filming oneself and looking at oneself in the mirror: the use of self-writing by Portuguesespeaking documentary filmmakers”. The scientific production of the two directors, along with their artistic stances in the film, includes relevant topics of analysis focusing on discursive as well as narrative elements, which we complement from a perspective that merges Jacques Aumont “filmmakers’ theory”, namely as it has been understood by different Portuguese scholars.
